Arne Rudberger 1917–1995

January 19, 2017

This exhibition tracks the work and career of Arne Rudberger, one of Sweden’s lesser known architectural pioneers. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Rudberger’s birth, Summit honours the Swedish architect with an exhibition highlighting some of his finest interiors. In 1953, when Rudberger set up his own practice, he was commissioned to do some interior work for for the Stockholm department store MEA that became one of the best known examples of Swedish interior design. The exhibition at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair presents the slender and bold MEA staircase that seemed to be the embodiment of what the design sensibility of the 50’s was all about. The exhibition will also feature one of the few interiors Rudberger created that remains intact today and it includes his successful experiments with industrialised housing construction in the 60’s as well as his achievements as an exhibition architect in the 80’s.
